Mechanical Systems Design Engineer

Description:
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Systems Design Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing engineering definitions and crafting technical drawings for various mechanical system components and assemblies. Your work will encompass the entire design process, from conceptualization to implementation, while ensuring seamless collaboration with stakeholders throughout.
Responsibilities:
• Generate 3D models and system schematics, translating them into comprehensive engineering definitions for detailed parts, assemblies, and installations.
• Establish precise design tolerances to guide the production of system components and assemblies.
• Actively participate in the thorough review, approval, and release process of engineering definitions.
• Provide support in crafting and reviewing engineering definitions, ensuring strict adherence to design specifications and organizational protocols.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution coupled with over 5 years of hands-on experience in design engineering; alternatively, an associate degree in mechanical design paired with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in vehicle mechanical systems, machine design, or structural design.
• Expertise in CAD software, particularly CATIA V5/6, with a preference for familiarity with CATIA 3DX and model-based definitions.
• Strong understanding of design principles utilizing GD&T.
• Experience utilizing Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools and configuration management protocols.
• Exceptional decision-making abilities with keen attention to detail.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
• A team-oriented mindset with exemplary collaboration, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Dependable work ethic with excellent time management abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in pneumatics, hydraulics, fuel systems, flight controls, landing gears, actuation systems, or similar kinematics mechanisms.
• Previous involvement with prototype, development, experimental, or innovative product projects.
• Hands-on experience with equipment assembly, fabrication, and installation.
• Proactive and self-sufficient approach, capable of adding value with minimal oversight.
• Eagerness to learn and consistently enhance capabilities and skills.
• Positive influence within the team, department, and broader community.
• Comfort working within a creative and fast-paced environment.
• Desire and aptitude for mentoring others.
