Job Summary:
The Technician II will perform a variety of duties to include preventive and corrective maintenance procedures on visual displays, image generators and cockpit simulator systems to include the electronic, mechanical, electromechanical, or optical areas. Constructs, troubleshoots, calibrates, adjusts, tests, and maintains equipment, components, devices, or systems relating to flight simulation and support engineering as required. Work from schematics, engineering drawings or vendor documents for maintenance repair and written or verbal instructions to provide console support during simulator flight training and research activities

Supports maintenance and training operations during weekends and shifting hours when required.
Dead lifts and repositions reconfigurable aircraft consoles weighing up to 86 lbs. from and to below flight cabin floors.
Retrieves aircraft instrumentation panel overlays weighing up to 46 lbs. from above the head and secure the same to mounting frames at below the waist heights.

Interacts with users during training to resolve problems and re-establish the affected module to operational status without delay.

Responds to maintenance calls, monitors pilot generated logbook entries, initiates corrective actions, replacement parts requisitions, and related records updates.

Conducts and documents general trailer preventive maintenance checks & services.

Implements and provides feedback on engineering software and hardware updates.
Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and repairs electromechanical, video, audio, and network systems using publications and wiring diagrams supplied by military, contractor engineering, and commercial off the shelf equipment manufacturers.

Must be able to safely handle rack mounted computers weighing up to 44 lbs. and universal power supplies weighing up to 57 lbs.

Crawls through limited access spaces as part of periodic inspections, services, maintenance, and engineering changes.

Employs use of complex electronic equipment such as, digital multi-meter, fiber optic test equipment, temperature probes, ultrasonic beacons test equipment, computer based troubleshooting systems, power meters, CAT5 and CAT6 network cabling testing.

Maintains logistics records, LAN based central work order system, and reports as directed by the site manager.

Ships and receives parts following strict US Government property accountability procedures.

Performs basic inspections, preventive services on four environmental control units, and determines if on call subcontractor maintenance is required.

At the discretion of the site manager, additional duties may include support responsibilities not directly associated with primary duties. Must be ready to travel with the AVCATT suite if relocated.

Applies technical knowledge of electronics principles in determining equipment malfunctions.

Applies skill in restoring equipment operation, evaluates performance and reliability of prototype or production mode.
